Tapestry Weaving with Janna Maria Vallee Learn how to weave a custom wall hanging on a lap loom in this introductory tapestry weaving workshop in Kelowna for Yarn Okanagan. Students will leave the workshop with a solid understanding of the process of warping up and weaving with multiple weft-faced weaving techniques like shape building and colour blending. We will talk about how to choose yarn for your projects, as well how to troubleshoot tapestry-specific issues. Students will leave with a good start on a sampler wall-hanging in colours of their choosing from a range of naturally dyed yarns made by instructor, Janna Maria Vallee of Everlea Yarn.
The following materials are provided at the workshop and are covered by the student’s materials fee: a wooden frame loom (or discounted Mirrix Loom at an additional cost), warp yarn, wool weft yarn naturally dyed by Janna, and a 14-page hand-out. Students are welcome to bring their own loom with permission from Janna (contact Janna at email@example.com to discuss the loom you’d like to bring).
Students should bring a pair of scissors. 4 hour workshop // 9am-1pm $235 (includes materials. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to upgrade to a Mirrix loom through Janna)
