Vanessa T Cunningham has been spinning yarn and weaving shawls as a small business for over 15 years. In fact, my very first blog post here on VancouverYarn.com in 2008 featured Vanessa's shawl, and my experience taking spinning lessons from her at Birkeland Bros when it was located on Main Street. Sadly, her beloved Ashford Kiwi spinning wheel has been stolen. She is seeking funds to replace her wheel. Donations can be made at the link above. I'm very excited to be teaching and vending at Knit City in Vancouver this fall.
Registration for my Intro to Tapestry class on Friday Sept 23rd (and all other classes) opens TODAY at 7pm pacific at knitsocial.ca Introduction to Tapestry Weaving is a chock-full workshop which introduces new weavers to the fundamentals of tapestry. You will leave the workshop with a solid understanding of how to dress your loom, build shapes, blend colours and finish and mount your weaving. You will learn the art of designing for and weaving tapestry on a handcrafted Everlea Mini Loom and a gorgeous array of naturally dyed Everlea Yarns. Join me! |
