Noren is the name given to traditional Japanese cloth dividers that hang in doorways and windows. The works in this exhibit will feature both traditional and contemporary designs. Yoko is assisted by her daughter Kazuho. Please join us for the opening Thurs Nov 7 6-8pm Exhibition runs Thursday Nov 7- Sunday Nov 24 Textile Fixeries and Stuffy Triage On the first Sunday of the month, we will be fixing textile things. We have a stuffy triage station for repairing our textiles love ones, sewing machines, various helpful tools, and some know how. We also invite folks to bring their beloved stuffies to the Stuffy Triage Centre to receive assistance in mending, stuffing, replacing eyes and various other tender administrations. Donations welcome to cover supplies, 1-4pm. Sunday Stitchery On the third Sunday of each month, come hang out and stitch something. Bring whatever project you're working on - darning, felting, hand sewing, embroidery, knitting, needlepoint, crochet, etc. Share tips, bring questions, relax with fellow stitchers and have a cup of tea. This is a free drop in for all skill levels and all ages. 1-4pm Weaving with Sarah On the fourth Sunday of each month, weaver Sarah McKinnon will host a weaving drop-in, helping you with trouble shooting, answering your textile questions, and getting you started on new projects. Sarah is warm and knowledgeable and together with you, will make our space a weaving wonderland. Bring your own loom and yarns. All ages and levels welcome, no registration required. $10/family drop-in fee. We also welcome you to come by to watch or try one our small practice looms. 1-4pm About the Learnary... |
