What is "Retirement", exactly? According to Wikipedia, "Retirement is the point where a person stops employment completely. A person may also semi-retire by reducing work hours. An increasing number of individuals are choosing to put off this point of total retirement, by selecting to exist in the emerging state of Pre-tirement." That's not me. I'm switching careers. Nope, not even that. I'm switching focus. Hmmm, yes that's closer to say. I'm switching to do what my heart has been telling me to do. Yes.... closer.... Here it is, in a paragraph; I love writing. I love art, I love to connect with others. I love fibre, I love paper and pens and paint and canvas. I love to learn. I love travel, and seeing friends old and new. It's time for me to honor those loves in a different way. How? I'm glad you asked! At the end of January 2018 I'm closing the Molly's Lane store. I'm moving to a business model of using my online store and going to shows and doing pop up shops in select locations. This gives me greater flexibility, less overhead, more time to work with words and pens and paper and paints and canvas. And take classes at SFU. And spend time with my family. Locally I will do classes and be involved in the guild, do pop up shops, and work with other artists. I have shows scheduled; Fibres West in Cloverdale in March, VIFF in Campbell River in May, Fibre Week in Olds in June and Knit City in Vancouver in October. Other shows are in the works. Big changes!! I am excited. I'd love to talk to you about them. See you soon! What's on Sale? Since the shop is going on the road, many of the products I carry will stay in inventory. But the good news is a lot of it will need to go in to your hands!! There will be lots of yarn, books, notions and accessories on sale this month. Here's a list of what is currently offered: Sock yarn 25% off Select yarns 25% to 40% off Notions 20% off Pages 25% (books, patterns... if it's got pages it is on sale!) Deeper discounts and more products will be announced next week. I am also selling store fixtures; billy bookcases, an expedit cabinet, two tables, lots and lots of slat wall hooks, lighting, and more. Please let me know if you are interested. These products won't be available until the 30th of January. In the meantime...The photo above shows me teaching spinning to Grant Hardy from AMI-TV. We were filming for his lifestyle show which is channel 888 locally. I'll let you know when it airs! Grant is visually impaired and we had so much fun and plenty of laughs as I taught him spinning, felting and knitting. Thank you for your support over the years; it was in 2010 that I first opened the doors of Unwind! I have appreciated you more than you'll know. I look forward to seeing you soon. Warmly, Kim Molly's Lane 287 Gower Point Rd Gibsons, British Columbia (604) 886-4117 www.unwindknitandfibre.ca Store Hours: Mon-Sun 10-5
