2026 is the Year of the Horse 🐎
A year for bold moves, fresh energy, and discovering new passions. And truly, what’s bolder than learning a brand-new skill? Join us for a Beginner Embroidery Class where you’ll create a beautiful omamori charm sampler, inspired by Japanese New Year symbols and stitched with intention to carry good luck throughout the year. ✨ Omamori are small fabric charms traditionally purchased at shrines in Japan to bring success and good fortune. This design features meaningful symbols: the pine branch for longevity, the senryo plant for good fortune, and the chrysanthemum for rejuvenation, perfect energy to welcome the Year of the Horse. The class takes place on Sunday, February 1st, you’ll learn essential embroidery stitches, it’s beginner-friendly and includes all materials. This class is taught by Leah Churchley, a textile artist who is passionate about creating inclusive, welcoming communities through art. ✨ Start the Year of the Horse with intention, creativity, and a little extra luck. About the Everlea Guide to Vancouver Yarn Hi, I'm Janna. I'm the proprietor, maker and natural dyer at Everlea Looms. I am a tapestry weaver, longtime knitter and 2013 graduate of Concordia University's Fibres and Material Practices program. In 2008 I created Vancouver Yarn as a space to hold as much of the textile awesomeness that I could find in and around Vancouver. Here on the VY blog I mostly share about local events. It soon grew to include all the places you can shop for yarny things online in Canada. Do you have an event you'd like me to post? Simply email me at janna (at) everleayarn.ca Thank you, Janna
