Textiles Lab. Wednesdays January 14 and February 11, 6:30 – 9:30 pm with CZarina Lobo of The Twisted Fibres. Join CZarina for a cozy, hands-on evening of mending and making at the museum. Bring a favourite worn garment and spend time repairing, refreshing and gently upcycling your wardrobe—saving money, reducing waste and keeping textiles out of the landfill. We’ll explore techniques such as visible mending, Kantha, Sashiko, darning, weaving, appliqué and embroidery in a calm, skill-sharing space, with demonstrations offer on the hour and half-hour so everyone can relax into their own rhythm. Tools and mostly post-consumer materials are provided; bring any special items you’d like to work with. Open to beginners through experienced sewers. $15 per session (suggested $20.) About the Everlea Guide to Vancouver Yarn Hi, I'm Janna. I'm the proprietor, maker and natural dyer at Everlea Looms. I am a tapestry weaver, longtime knitter and 2013 graduate of Concordia University's Fibres and Material Practices program. In 2008 I created Vancouver Yarn as a space to hold as much of the textile awesomeness that I could find in and around Vancouver. Here on the VY blog I mostly share about local events. It soon grew to include all the places you can shop for yarny things online in Canada. Do you have an event you'd like me to post? Simply email me at janna (at) everleayarn.ca Thank you, Janna
