Happy New Year!

​Happy New Year! I wish you and yours a joyful and inspiring new year! This year my resolution is to spend less time on the web and more time reading and making. Here are some things people in Van are doing that is inspiring to me.
 

• Starting today Kim Werker is leading an 14 day online Daily Making Jumpstart class. It's totally affordable and there is an option to get a deal on the Year of Making book, too.
• Wet Coast Wools gives us the low-down on how we can use our knitting skills to help Syrian refugee children feel welcome in Canada.
• Melissa at Miso Crafty Knits considers taking supporting local business to the next level this year in her knitting 
• These local podcasts were launched in 2015 and they are awesome!

• ​2015 also saw the advent of the Textile Art Department which is run by a few of the core faculty of the late Textile Art program at CapU. These awesome instructors are offering a three-day jacquard weaving workshop in February.

​This week American Tapestry Alliance's Tapestry Unlimited Blog Tour that started on VY's blog last week continues with Rebecca Mezoff showing us how to blend colour using hatching. It's a super informative tutorial with two excellent videos. This tour is really giving you some solid tapestry weaving skills. Check it out and don't forget to enter to win some awesome prizes from American Tapestry Alliance.

Above are Sammy and I outside Grand Central Station in NYC last week. We love it here but can't wait to come home to BC in the summer of 2016 after being away for six years!
