3/13/2019 0 Comments Inclusivity at Vancouver YarnIn the past two months there have been in depth conversations about inclusivity (or lack thereof) in the craft community which includes a call to action by black, indigenous and people of colour for businesses in the craft community to each create a statement of inclusivity. I have since created an FAQ page which includes our inclusivity statement and reads as follows... Vancouver Yarn is an inclusive space - everyone is welcome to be included in our resource lists regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexual orientation, age or ability. However, if it is found that someone has engaged in racism, bigotry or similar harmful, exclusive behaviour their information will be removed from Vancouver Yarn. This call to action took place on Instagram where @su.krita, @thecolormustard, @astitchtowear, and @ocean_bythesea have largely contributed to the conversation. Responding to the call to action and creating an inclusivity statement for your business is a small gesture of inclusivity which all white-run craft businesses should have no problem taking part in if you are a business which holds space for marginalized people. I'm looking forward to seeing all your websites updated with yours soon! Janna Vallee
